I Like Fairy Tales

Fairy Tales and Fantasy: My Creative Refuge and Manifestation Tool

Childhood lessons turning into adult superpowers.

Every leaf fluttering in the wind, every shadow on a sun-dappled path, has a story to tell. Since I was a child, I've been enchanted by the world of fairytales, finding solace in never-ending tales of forest adventures, magical creatures, and abounding imagination. Living through these tales felt like an escape - a doorway that led me to a different realm where pain and turmoil didn't exist.

Settling into these stories was not only an act of evasion; I was carving myself a safe space of infinite possibilities. This space was my sanctuary to have a blank canvas, a place where I could let my own imagination flourish. I would stitch together narratives that colored my world with magic even on the dreariest of days. My stuffed animals all had names and I felt so attatched to them, my parents may not have understood me as well as I’d like, but my stuffed animals sure did! I loved being around a world that I created where I felt safe in. I’d play for hours every day whether it be outside or inside.

I realize that not everybody is as nerdy as I am. As a kid, I was homeschooled, and spent many of those hours reading Magic Tree House books instead of actually doing school work. I loved dismantling Lego sets and rebuilding them in my own way. I could create awesome worlds that took days to create so when I finished a project, it was very rewarding. I also remember singing along to music pretending I was in front of thousands of adoring fans. I had this one plastic mic with some sort of spring inside so when you sang inside of it, it created a natural kind of reverberation. I loved rocking out with these plastic guitars that had touch sensitive frets but no strings so it had 3 pre recorded songs on there and I just had to touch different frets to play chord. it was perfect for just having fun imagining myself rocking out. I also loved pretending to be a car or a train if I was playing with my sets of toys. I’d be part of the whole crowd and be within the entire world I made. Seriously I think my imagination is on a slightly crazy level, and I love it!

As I grew older, I found that my affinity for tales continued to be a steadfast companion; however, its role transformed. On one hand, the toys have disappeared and I instead own lots of gadgets and electronics–more so an obsessive collection of useless junk than anything usefull. And on the other hand, the tales didn't slip away at all, they morphed into a reprocessing tool–one that allows me to visualize a brighter tomorrow. I imagine selling out Red Rocks with the sound of applause ringing in my ears. My visions are so vivid that I get goosebumps when I think about all of the lives that my music could change. I feel so comforted thinking about all of the inspiration and positive energy that I can share with the world. I may no longer seek escape from reality like I did as a kid, but I am the author of my life now and I want to write a better tomorrow for all of us.

This practice of visualization started back in high school when I was aspiring to make the varsity tennis team. I would dream of the perfect toss to crush my serve with. I’d imagine a great volley and a lot of hard-fought points. I tried to remain calm and confident, all of which were things that were seemingly impossible to do at the time. I literally sucked so bad at tennis. Between the bullying and the athleticism I possessed, I don’t know how I had the courage to stick with it. I really loved it so the passion helped, but surely the monumental challenge would have dettered me. But somehow, I kept persevering, I kept learning and figuring out how to make the most out of what I have. I received amazing training from coaches that truly went out of their way to support me. It’s amazing how the visualizing helped attract the right people in my life so that I would be able to be the best possible tennis player I could be. When it came time to play, I was able to execute on some of my visualizing practices. I not only made the varsity tennis team, but I went on to teach tennis . Now tennis is an outlet to help educate others and myself about the powerful tools of breath work, visualizing, discipline / focus, effort / tenacity. It’s awesome being able to apply what I know from tennis and put it towards my music endeavors. It not only supports me financially, but it helps me mentally / physically. It’s a beautiful blend of both my passions and my purpose.

I've learned that the tales I weave in my mind can become my reality. The stories are no longer a refuge, but a cosmic canvas where I paint my aspirations to drive them into existence. As I embark on this magical expedition that life is, I’m reminded to keep my eyes wide open, ready to rewrite, reimagine, and manifest the kind of reality I want. The realm of fairy tales has taught me that the magic lies not in escaping reality but in shaping it, in owning our own narrative. We are the authors, the creators, the dreamers, and with each passing day, we turn a new page of our very own fairytale.

Here’s a list of how I use my imagination as a tool:

1. Set a Clear Goal: Begin with a clear and precise idea of what you want to manifest. Be exact with your desires.

2. Find a Calm State of Mind: Start your visualization practice in a quiet, relaxed environment where you won't be disturbed. Meditation can effectively create this state.

3. Use All Your Senses: A successful visualization isn't only about seeing an image, but also experiencing the feeling, smell, taste, and sound associated with your desire.

4. Emotional Integration: Insert feelings into your vision. Think about how it will feel if what you want to manifest is already yours. This emotional energy accelerates the manifestation process.

5. Practice Regularly: Make creative visualization a daily routine. Regular practice makes it possible to integrate the image into your subconscious mind.

6. Use Positive Affirmations: Combine your visualization with positive affirmations to augment its power. These affirmations should be present tense phrases that signify that you are already in possession of what you seek.

7. Stay Patient and Be Persistent: Manifestation takes time. Keep faith in the process and remain consistent – it will turn your desires into reality.

8. Be Thankful: Feel the gratitude for what's coming as though you’ve already received it. This positive energy has a high vibration which aligns well with the universe.

9. Detach from the Outcome: After doing your part, let the rest be up to universe. Don't stress over the outcome as it might create negative energy and distract you from your goal.

These guidelines should effectively help you utilize creative visualization as a powerful manifestation tool, just writing them out will certainly help me!

Thank you for joining me on this wild ride, and until next time,

Dossas
